Before You Order And Use
Review the SDT208 power requirement, test oil rule, airflow regulator, operating time limit, high-temperature protection, and A/C testing boundary before using the smoke leak detector.
12V / 24V Battery Required
The SDT208 smoke leak detector must be connected to a DC 12V or DC 24V battery power supply before operation.
Testing Oil Not Included
Testing liquid is not included due to logistics restrictions. Use liquid paraffin or baby oil purchased locally as the testing oil.
Add 10-15ml Only
Fill 10-15ml testing oil before use. Do not overfill, and do not add more than 15ml each time.
Open Airflow Regulator
Before use, gently turn the knob to open the airflow regulator valve and prepare the air path for testing.
Refill Only When Smoke Is Thin
Add fresh oil only when the smoke becomes thin. Pour out remaining oil before adding fresh oil and replace detector oil regularly.
8-Minute Use Limit
Do not run the detector continuously for more than 8 minutes. Let the unit rest between test cycles.
75℃ Protection
If the working temperature exceeds 75℃, the intelligent protection system automatically shuts down power. Wait until the unit cools before using it again.
Hot Surface Warning
The round metal section of the detector can become hot during operation. Avoid direct contact to prevent burns.
A/C System Boundary
Do not use the smoke leak detector to directly pressure-test an automotive A/C high-pressure system. Use only for segment-assisted checks under proper conditions.

How To Use
How To Use
Use SDT208 with 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil, a DC 12V / 24V battery, the proper adapter, and the correct pressure mode for the selected test system.
Add Test Oil
Fill 10-15ml baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector before use. Do not overfill.
Open The Airflow Regulator
Gently turn the knob to open the airflow regulator valve before starting the test.
Connect The Test Pipe
Open the engine cover, hang the detector if needed, disconnect the pipe that needs testing, and connect the proper hose or adapter.
Connect 12V / 24V Power
Connect the detector to a DC 12V or 24V battery, then turn on the power switch.
Select The Mode
Choose Standard Mode, EVAP Mode, Air Mode, or Smoke Mode according to the system being tested.
Locate Leaks
Observe smoke, pressure, and airflow changes. Use a headlamp if needed to check the leak points visually.
Use Notes

No. The automotive A/C system operates at about 1.7-3.0MPa output pressure, while smoke leak detectors generate much lower pressure. SDT208 cannot directly pressure-test the automotive A/C system for leaks. It can only be used for segment-assisted air-conditioning pipeline checks under proper conditions.
First pressurize the air-conditioning pipeline using the proper method, then spray smoke and observe whether airflow blows or disturbs the smoke. If the smoke is disturbed by airflow, that area may indicate a leak point for further repair.
SDT208 supports low-pressure leak checks for EVAP systems, intake pipes, exhaust pipes, crankcase systems, fuel tanks, pipe fittings, vacuum lines, vehicle sealing areas, and selected turbo or intercooler low-pressure paths under proper conditions.
The pressure gauge and flow meter help you monitor the test pipeline. In general, if the pressure gauge continues to rise and stabilize, the tested pipeline may have no obvious leak. If the pressure continues to decrease, the pipeline may have a leak that needs further inspection and repair.
SDT208 provides Standard Mode and EVAP Mode, plus airflow adjustment through the regulator. It is not designed as an arbitrary high-pressure tester. Use the correct mode and avoid applying smoke pressure to systems that are not suitable for smoke testing.
