Step-by-step injector service workflow

Step-by-Step Workflow

Use CT500 to clean and test standard and GDI-family injectors by selecting the correct adapter, fluid, voltage, pressure, and function for the injector type.

01

Step 01

Identify Injector And Select Adapter

Confirm whether the injector is standard, GDI, EFI, or FSI, then select the correct connector, adapter, and required drive voltage.

Result interpretation

How To Read Test Results

Interpret CT500 results only after the correct injector adapter, 12V / 70V / 120V drive setting, test fluid, pressure, speed, pulse width, pulse count, time, and test mode have been selected. Follow each row in sequence so the observed result leads to a defined adjustment, cleaning, retest, diagnosis, or replacement action.

How To Read Test Results
What You ObserveWhat It May MeanRecommended Next Step
Drips while closedContamination, valve-seat wear, or a sealing faultClean and re-test; refer or replace if leakage remains
One measuring cylinder fills much lessRestriction, installation leak, channel issue, or injector faultCheck pressure and sealing, swap channels, then clean and repeat
Deflected, split, coarse, or dripping sprayDeposit, nozzle damage, or internal mechanical issueClean and re-test; use specialist service if unchanged
Difference becomes smaller after cleaningA recoverable restriction may have been reducedRecord the result, renew applicable seals, and verify on the vehicle
No measurable improvementThe injector may already be clean or have electrical / mechanical damageStop repeated cleaning and continue diagnosis, specialist testing, or replacement
Bench results look balanced but the vehicle still misfiresThe root cause may be outside the injector systemCheck ignition, compression, intake leakage, fuel pressure, and control signals

Important: Keep adapter, voltage, pressure, speed, pulse width, pulse count, time, fluid, and mode identical when comparing injectors or before-and-after results. If the injector voltage is uncertain, start at 12V and increase gradually. Do not leave an injector connected to an incorrect voltage for an extended time. Confirm final limits with the injector specification, service procedure, or CT500 manual.

Fluid, compatibility, and operating limits

Safety & Compatibility

Review injector compatibility, diesel limitations, fluid selection, ultrasonic cleaning, voltage selection, and single-injector setup before using CT500.

Diesel Injectors: Cleaning Only

Diesel injectors can be ultrasonically cleaned, but CT500 does not support diesel injector testing.

Use Test Fluid For Testing

Use professional colorless, odorless, non-corrosive fuel injector test fluid for performance testing and simulated operating conditions.

Use Cleaning Fluid For Ultrasonic Cleaning

Use professional fuel injector cleaning fluid formulated for ultrasonic tanks or engine carbon cleaning fluid to remove carbon deposits and impurities.

75%+ Medical Alcohol Alternative

If professional fluid is unavailable, 75%+ medical alcohol may be used as an alternative, although cleaning effectiveness may be reduced and flammability precautions still apply.

Do Not Mix Fluids Or Dry-Run

Do not use cleaning liquid in the testing circuit, do not mix cleaning and testing fluids, and do not run ultrasonic cleaning without fluid in the tank.

Select Voltage Carefully

For GDI injectors, start from 12V and increase to 70V or 120V only when needed. Avoid using an incorrect voltage for an extended time.

Frequently asked questions

Questions And Answers

These answers cover injector compatibility, diesel injector limitations, test fluid, cleaning fluid, voltage selection, heating differences, model comparison, packing list, and warranty support.

Can Diesel Injectors Be Cleaned And Tested With CT500?

Diesel injectors can be cleaned with the AUTOOL injector cleaning tester, but CT500 does not support diesel injector testing.

What Injector Types Does CT500 Support?

CT500 supports cleaning and testing GDI, EFI, FSI, and standard gasoline injectors. It provides 12V, 70V, and 120V voltage selections for different injector driving needs.

How Many Injectors Can CT500 Test At Once?

CT500 supports simultaneous cleaning and testing of up to six injectors. When testing only one injector, plug the other five unused test positions with the included plugs.

Does CT500 Have A Heating Function?

No. CT500 does not support heating. CT450, FN606, and FN608 support heated ultrasonic cleaning up to 50°C, depending on model.

How Should I Choose Test Fluid?

Use professional automotive injector test fluid to evaluate injector performance. Use approved test fluid to reproduce test conditions consistently without exposing the circuit to unapproved liquids. If unavailable, 75%+ medical alcohol may be used as an alternative.

How Should I Choose Cleaning Fluid?

Use professional ultrasonic injector cleaning fluid or professional engine carbon cleaning fluid to remove carbon deposits. If professional cleaning fluid is unavailable, 75%+ medical alcohol may be used, but cleaning performance may be reduced.

Can I Use Cleaning Liquid To Test Injectors?

No. Cleaning solution can be corrosive and may damage internal machine parts, corrode rubber components, and cause leaks. Use test fluid for testing and cleaning fluid only for cleaning.

How Do I Set Test Parameters?

Special parameter setup is not usually required. Select the function number and set the test time. During detection, CT500 allows adjustment of parameters such as simulated speed, pulse width, pulse count, and working time.

How Do I Select The Correct Voltage For GDI Injectors?

Select the voltage according to the injector requirement. If uncertain, start from 12V, then gradually increase to 70V and 120V until the injector functions correctly.

Will The Wrong Voltage Damage GDI Injectors?

Short-term wrong voltage may not cause immediate damage, but prolonged excessive voltage can be harmful. If the injector does not work correctly, adjust to the proper voltage promptly and avoid long testing at the wrong voltage.

What Is The Difference Between CT500 And FN608?

FN608 supports 8 cylinders, while CT500 supports 6 cylinders. FN608 also has a 50°C heating cleaning tank, wider voltage ranges of 12V, 12-70V, and 120-180V, an independently usable cleaning tank, and two independent fuel pumps. CT500 uses 12V, 70V, and 120V modes, has an integrated cleaning tank, and uses one fuel pump.

What Is The Difference Between FN608 And FN606?

FN608 supports testing for 8 cylinders, while FN606 supports testing for 6 cylinders. FN608 is equipped with two independent fuel pumps for left and right fuel rails, so one side can continue working if the other pump has an issue. FN606 uses a single fuel pump.

What Is The Difference Between CT400, CT450, And CT500?

Compared with CT400, CT450 adds the pulse injection test and a 50°C ultrasonic heating function. Compared with CT450, CT500 further adds wide pulse injection test and continuous injection test, but CT500 does not have ultrasonic heating.

What Is The Difference Between CT200 And CT400?

CT200 supports 12V standard fuel injectors. CT400 supports both 12V standard injectors and GDI injectors, and it adds a drawer for injector adapters and accessories.

How Should I Choose Between CT150, CT160, CT200, And GDI Models?

CT150 and CT160 are 4-cylinder gasoline injector machines. CT160 adds ultrasonic heating. CT200 adds two additional test positions for testing up to six injectors at once while keeping similar basic functions. If you need GDI high-pressure injector testing, choose CT400, CT450, CT500, FN606, or FN608.

What Accessories Are Included With CT500?

Refer to the Packing List image for the final package contents. The package shows the CT500 main unit, injector adapters, signal cables, fittings, O-rings, tray, funnel, valve, user manual, and other accessories. Five plugs are included for single-injector testing.

How Long Is The Warranty?

AUTOOL covers the main unit with a 3-year limited warranty and standard bundled accessories with a 1-year limited warranty from the date of receipt. See the Warranty Policy for coverage, exclusions, claim requirements, and any product-specific terms.
