Before You Order And Use
SDT101 is an external-air-source EVAP smoke machine. Confirm the 12V power requirement, air source requirement, testing oil rule, operating time limit, and hot-surface warning before use.
External Air Source Required
SDT101 does not have a built-in air pump. Connect a shop air supply or external air compressor before smoke testing.
DC12V Battery Required
The detector must be connected to a DC12V battery. It is designed for 12V vehicle testing environments.
Testing Oil Not Included
Testing oil is not included due to logistics restrictions. Use liquid paraffin or baby oil as the testing liquid.
Add 10-15ml Only
When using the smoke leak detector for the first time, fill 10-15ml testing oil. Do not exceed this range.
Refill Only When Smoke Becomes Thin
Fresh oil can be added only when the smoke becomes thin. Do not fill more than 15ml each time.
Drain Old Oil Before Refilling
Before adding fresh testing oil, pour out the remaining oil in the detector and replace detector oil regularly.
8-Minute Use Limit
Do not run the detector continuously for more than 8 minutes. Let the unit rest between tests.
75°C Protection
The intelligent protection system automatically shuts off power if the internal temperature exceeds 75°C. Operate it again after cooling.
Keep Away From Sensitive Parts
During leak detection, keep smoke away from smoke-sensitive parts and avoid using smoke on systems that are not suitable for smoke testing.
Safety Reminder
- The round metal part of the detector becomes hot during operation. Avoid direct contact to prevent burns.
- Do not refill testing oil while the detector is running.
- If overheat protection is triggered, stop use and allow the machine to cool before restarting.
- Use SDT101 for low-pressure EVAP and pipe leak detection only. Do not use it as a high-pressure leak tester.

How To Use
How To Use
Use SDT101 with a DC12V battery, external air source, and 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil. Under proper setup, the detector can begin producing smoke quickly for visual leak location.
Add Test Oil
Fill 10-15ml baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector before first use. Do not overfill.
Connect The Test Pipe
Open the engine cover, hang the detector if needed, then disconnect the pipe that needs testing and connect it to the smoke detector.
Connect External Air Source
Connect a shop air supply or external compressor to the air source interface, then open airflow from the external source as needed.
Connect DC12V Power
Connect the detector to a DC12V battery with the power cord clamp, then turn on the power switch.
Generate Smoke And Check Leaks
Switch on smoke generation. Check leak points visually when smoke fills the tested pipe, and use a headlamp if necessary.

Excellent Smoker and easy to use
Well made. Good price. Puts out a large amount of smoke. Better quality than the paint can types and is priced several hundred dollars less than the professional ones. Very easy to use and to test for leaks on your vehicle. I had never used one before but this made it child’s play to find subtle leaks in my intake system. I’m going to also test for interior wind noise by turning the heater fan on high and smoking along the outside door seals, etc. Plus, it’s a great company with excellent customer service. Pretty rare to find all of these qualities in one product these days. Highly recommend. The only drawback is the odor of the smoke. It stinks and it stays in your nostrils but that’s no fault of this product. It’s the nature of the oil used.
