Before You Order And Use
Review the 12V power requirement, testing oil rule, operating time limit, overheat protection, and hot-surface warning before using the SDT100 smoke test machine.
12V Battery Required
The SDT100 automotive smoke tester must be connected to a DC 12V battery to operate.
Testing Oil Not Included
Due to logistics restrictions, testing oil is not included. Buy liquid paraffin or baby oil locally for use as the testing fluid.
Add 10-15ml Only
Fill 10-15ml testing oil before use. Do not exceed this range, because overfilling leaves no space for smoke generation.
Refill When Smoke Becomes Thin
Only refill when smoke becomes thin. Do not add more than 15ml at a time, and drain remaining test oil before adding fresh oil.
8-Minute Use Limit
Do not operate the smoke leak detector continuously for more than 8 minutes. Allow it to rest between uses.
75°C Protection
The intelligent protection system automatically shuts off if internal temperature exceeds 75°C. Wait for the unit to cool before restarting.
Safety Reminder
- The metal round section of the smoke tester can become hot during operation. Avoid direct contact to prevent burns.
- Do not refill oil while the smoke tester is running.
- If the machine stops due to protection, cool it with the built-in air pump and restart after the temperature drops.

How To Use
How To Use
Use SDT100 with a DC 12V battery and 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil. The pipe can fill with smoke in about 30 seconds, allowing visual leak detection.
Add Test Oil
Fill 10-15ml baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector before use. Do not overfill.
Connect The Test Pipe
Open the engine cover, hang the detector if needed, then disconnect the pipe that needs testing and connect it to the smoke detector.
Connect 12V Power
Connect the detector to a DC 12V battery, then turn on the power switch so the detector starts working.
Locate Leaks
In about 30 seconds, the pipe will be filled with smoke. Check the leak points visually and use a headlamp if necessary.
Use Notes
- Testing oil is not included due to logistics restrictions.
- Use liquid paraffin or baby oil as testing oil.
- Only refill when smoke becomes thin.
- Drain remaining test oil before adding fresh test oil.
- Do not operate continuously for more than 8 minutes.
- Wait for the detector to cool down if overheat protection is triggered.

Yes. AUTOOL smoke leak detectors can test leaks in the EVAP system. Use the proper EVAP testing tools and adapters according to the package contents and the vehicle test port.
No. The automotive A/C system operates at about 1.7-3.0MPa output pressure, while AUTOOL smoke leak detectors generate about 0.1MPa. SDT100 cannot directly pressure-test the automotive A/C system for leaks. It can only be used for segment-assisted air-conditioning pipeline checks under proper conditions.
First pressurize the air-conditioning pipeline using the proper method, then spray smoke and observe whether airflow blows the smoke. If the smoke is disturbed by airflow, the location may indicate a leak point for further repair.
SDT100 supports low-pressure leak checks for EVAP, intake, exhaust, crankcase, oil seal, intercooler air, fuel tank, coolant tank, pipe fittings, vacuum, engine airtightness, and low-pressure turbo systems.
SDT100 uses DC 12V car battery power. This makes it convenient for vehicle maintenance and easy to power in typical automotive repair environments.
Most AUTOOL smoke leak detectors use fixed pressure. SDT MASTER allows pressure adjustment. SDT100 should be used according to its fixed safe pressure setup for common maintenance and testing needs.

This is great! Easy to use! I used a small amount of baby oil. It makes a very good amount of smoke. It connects with clamps to your positive and negative battery cable so it’s totally portable to use outside if you’re not able to work on your car at home.
