Key Features
Built-In Air Supply in a Portable Smoke Tester
EVAP and Vacuum Leak Detection
SDT100 can be used as a diagnostic tool for vacuum systems to detect vacuum leaks. It also supports leak checks for EVAP systems, intake systems, exhaust systems, crankcases, oil seals, intercooler air paths, fuel tanks, coolant tanks, line fittings, and low-pressure turbo systems.
Built-In Air Pump
No extra pump is required. The built-in air pump helps save setup time and makes smoke leak detection easier for both technicians and automotive enthusiasts.
Overheat + Low-Temperature Protection
Overheat and freeze protection automatically stop operation when needed. The unit can operate at temperatures down to -20°C.
Grouped Controls & Connections
The smoke switch, power and alarm indicators, oil filler, smoke output, power socket, and handle are grouped in one compact layout. This makes setup and component identification easier.
3 Years Warranty Support
Main unit: 3-year warranty. Standard accessories: 1-year warranty.Warranty Policy.
How to Use
Seal the System, Add Smoke, Inspect, and Retest
Add Testing Oil
Fill 10–15 mL baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector before use. Do not overfill.
Connect the Test Line
Access the system to be tested, hang the detector if needed, then disconnect the line you want to test and connect it to the smoke leak detector.
Connect 12V Power
Connect the detector to a 12V DC battery, then turn on the power switch to start the detector.
Locate Leaks
In about 30 seconds, the connected test line will be filled with smoke. Inspect for escaping smoke to locate leaks and use a headlamp if necessary.
Confirm and Retest
Confirm whether there is a visible leak path in the system layout, repair the confirmed leak, and repeat the same controlled test. Continue with the vehicle procedure if no smoke is visible or the fault is intermittent or functional.
Safety & Compatibility
Use the Vehicle Procedure and a Safe Test Pressure
12V Power and Built-In Air Pump
Connect SDT100 to a 12V DC battery before use. The built-in air pump provides the test airflow, so you do not need an external compressor.
Testing Oil Is Not Included
Testing oil is not included. Use liquid paraffin or baby oil and add 10–15 mL before use.
Limit Continuous Use to 8 Minutes
Do not run SDT100 continuously for more than 8 minutes. Automatic overheat protection shuts the unit off above 75°C. Let it cool before restarting.
Operating Temperature and Hot Surfaces
SDT100 supports operation down to -20°C. The round metal housing can become hot during use, so avoid touching hot surfaces directly.
Do Not Use for Direct High-Pressure A/C Testing
SDT100 cannot directly pressure-test an automotive A/C system. If a service procedure permits smoke on an isolated A/C line section, follow that procedure and use smoke only as an indirect visual aid.
Trace the Leak with Smoke
Use visible smoke to trace the leak area. If no smoke appears, recheck isolation, flow, and the test setup before continuing.
Never Refill While Running
Do not refill testing oil while SDT100 is running.
Indicator Shows Unit Status
Use the fault indicator for unit status, not as a pressure or airflow reading.
Cool Before Restarting
Let the unit cool before restarting after overheat protection is triggered.
Avoid Hot Metal Housing
Avoid touching the metal housing when it is hot.

FAQs
Pump, Smoke Fluid, and Connection Questions
What Testing Oil Should I Use for SDT100?
Testing oil is not included. If dedicated smoke-testing oil is unavailable, use liquid paraffin or baby oil.
How Much Testing Oil Should I Add?
Add 10–15 mL testing oil before use. Do not add more than 15 mL at a time. Refill only when the smoke becomes thin, and drain remaining testing oil before adding fresh testing oil. If too much oil is added accidentally, drain some oil out before operation.
Can I Use SDT100 as an EVAP Smoke Machine?
Yes. AUTOOL smoke leak detectors can test leaks in the EVAP system. Use the EVAP adapter or service tool that matches the vehicle test port.
Can SDT100 Directly Test Automotive A/C System Leaks?
No. The automotive A/C system operates at about 1.7–3.0 MPa output pressure, while SDT100 has rated output pressure below 10 psi. SDT100 cannot directly pressure-test the automotive A/C system for leaks. Use smoke only to help inspect an A/C line section after isolating and pressurizing it according to the service procedure.
How Can Smoke Help Locate a Leak in an Isolated A/C Line Section?
First isolate and pressurize the A/C line segment according to the vehicle or A/C service procedure. Then apply smoke near the test section and observe whether escaping airflow disturbs the smoke. If escaping air moves the smoke, inspect that area for a possible leak.
What Systems Can SDT100 Test?
SDT100 can locate vacuum leaks and also supports low-pressure checks across EVAP, intake, exhaust, crankcase, and low-pressure turbo systems. It can also check oil seals, intercooler air paths, fuel tanks, coolant tanks, line fittings, and engine sealing areas.
What Power Supply Does SDT100 Need?
SDT100 runs on a 12V DC vehicle battery. This makes it convenient for vehicle maintenance and easy to power in typical automotive repair environments.
Can I Adjust the Pressure on SDT100?
SDT100 uses fixed smoke-mode output below 10 psi. If separate Standard and EVAP pressure modes are required, compare SDT208. Use SDT100 only within its specified low-pressure range.
What Accessories Are Included?
Check the product listing or your selected package option for the exact items included. SDT100 includes the main unit, 12V battery clamp cable, smoke hose, cone adapter, red connector, thin hose, and airbag adapter. The package also includes an empty testing oil bottle, user manual, and retail box. Testing oil must be purchased separately.
How Do AUTOOL Smoke Leak Detector Models Differ?
- External-air EVAP: SDT101 and SDT103 — 3.2 kPa / 0.46 psi.
- Built-in pump: SDT106 <12 psi; SDT203/SDT205/SDT205S <15 psi; SDT206 dual pumps <18 psi.
- Dual pressure: SDT208 — 35 psi Standard / 10 psi EVAP.
Also compare flow, modes, and accessories before ordering.
How Long Is the Warranty?

I recommend it
This is great! Easy to use! I used a small amount of baby oil. It makes a very good amount of smoke. It connects with clamps to your positive and negative battery cable so it’s totally portable to use outside if you’re not able to work on your car at home. This has helped me find vacuum leaks with ease.
