Crankcase / Oil Seal
Can assist with crankcase, oil seal, intercooler air, and engine airtightness checks under low-pressure conditions.
Fuel / Coolant / Pipes
Supports fuel tank, coolant tank, pipe fittings, and low-pressure turbo system leak checks where smoke testing is appropriate.
How To Use
Use liquid paraffin or baby oil, connect the tested pipe, power the unit with a DC 12V battery, and visually locate leaks once smoke fills the pipeline.
Step 1: Add Test Oil
Fill 10-15ml baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector. Do not overfill. Open the engine cover and hang the detector if needed.
Step 2: Connect The Pipe
Disconnect the pipe that needs testing and connect it to the smoke detector with the proper hose or adapter.
Step 3: Connect 12V Power
Connect the detector to a DC 12V battery, then turn on the power switch so the smoke tester starts working.
Step 4: Locate Leaks
The unit starts producing smoke quickly; the tested pipeline may fill with smoke in about 30 seconds depending on system volume. Check leak points visually and use a headlamp if necessary.
Use Notes
- Testing oil is not included due to logistics restrictions.
- Use liquid paraffin or baby oil as the testing oil.
- Only refill when smoke becomes thin, and drain remaining test oil before adding fresh oil.
- Do not operate continuously for more than 8 minutes.
- Wait for the detector to cool down if overheat protection is triggered.
- Do not use SDT102 for direct automotive A/C pressure testing.

Questions And Answers
These answers cover testing oil, oil amount, no-smoke troubleshooting, supported systems, EVAP support, A/C auxiliary testing, power supply, pressure setup, accessories, model differences, and warranty.
Testing oil is not included due to logistics restrictions. If professional test oil is not available, use liquid paraffin or baby oil purchased locally as the testing fluid.
Add 10-15ml before use. Do not add more than 15ml at a time. If too much oil is added accidentally, drain some oil out before operation; the extra oil can be reused next time. Refill only when the smoke becomes thin, and drain remaining test oil before adding fresh oil.
First confirm that the unit is connected to a DC 12V battery with correct polarity. Then check whether 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil has been added, whether the machine has overheated, and whether the smoke has become thin because the oil needs replacement. Do not add oil while the machine is running. If the issue remains, contact support with photos or a short video of the setup.
SDT102 supports low-pressure leak checks for EVAP, intake, exhaust, crankcase, engine airtightness, vacuum, pipe fittings, fuel tank, coolant tank, oil seal, intercooler air, and low-pressure turbo systems under proper test conditions.
Yes. AUTOOL smoke leak detectors can test leaks in the EVAP system. SDT102 supports EVAP leak detection, including American cars from 1996+ when used with the proper EVAP testing tools, service access tools, and adapters for the vehicle.
No. Automotive A/C systems operate at about 1.7-3.0MPa output pressure, while smoke leak detectors generate about 0.1MPa. SDT102 cannot directly pressure-test the automotive A/C system for leaks. It can only assist with segmented A/C pipeline checks under proper conditions.
First pressurize the air-conditioning pipeline using the proper method, then spray smoke near the test section and observe whether airflow blows the smoke. If airflow disturbs the smoke, the location may indicate a leak point for further repair. This is an auxiliary method, not a direct A/C pressure test.
No. SDT102 has a built-in air pump, so no external air compressor is required. It only needs DC 12V vehicle battery power and the correct amount of testing oil.
Most AUTOOL smoke leak detectors use fixed pressure. SDT MASTER allows pressure adjustment. To help protect automotive pipelines, SDT102 should be used according to its preset safe pressure for common maintenance and testing needs.
