Current BT-series comparison information marks BT460 data printing as not supported, while some manual text may contain printer-related wording. If printing is required, confirm the exact version before ordering.

Lead-Acid Battery Tester

BT460 is intended for common automotive cranking lead-acid batteries, including Regular Flooded, AGM Flat Plate, AGM Spiral, GEL, and EFB batteries.

Not For Lithium Batteries

Do not describe BT460 as a lithium battery tester. The comparison chart shows lithium battery support only on BT960.

Not A Battery Charger

BT460 is a battery and charging-system tester, not a charger or repair power supply. The comparison chart marks Battery Charge as not supported for BT460.

Clamp Connection Matters

Connect the red clamp to the positive pole and the black clamp to the negative pole. Shake the clamps slightly to make sure they are firmly connected before testing.

Low Voltage Retest Reminder

If battery voltage is too low, the tester may not complete a normal judgment and may prompt a charge or retest workflow. Charge the battery when needed before testing again.

High Voltage Reminder

If the vehicle is running or the voltage is too high during the wrong test stage, stop the engine and follow the on-screen prompt before continuing.

Keep The Tester Protected

Do not disassemble the tester, immerse it in water, bend or over-stretch the wires, expose it to high temperature, or use it as a toy for children.

How To Use

How To Use

Connect the clamps securely, select the correct battery type and test standard, then follow the on-screen prompts for battery, cranking, charging, and maximum load tests.

Connect The Clamps

Connect the red clamp to the positive battery pole and the black clamp to the negative pole. Shake the clamps slightly to confirm a firm connection before testing.

Select Battery Test

Choose the battery type, test standard, and test range according to the battery label. The tester will provide results within a few seconds under normal conditions.

Run Cranking Test

Enter the Cranking Test function and follow the prompt to start the engine. The tester checks the starting motor through cranking voltage and current behavior.

Run Charging Test

Enter Charging Test, follow the prompt to increase engine speed to about 2500 RPM for 5 seconds, then press OK to complete the test.

Run Maximum Load Test

Select Max Load Test, turn on the vehicle electrical appliances, start the engine as instructed, then press OK to observe battery behavior under load.

Use Notes

  • Select the language from the Language menu before testing if needed.
  • Loose clamp contact may stop the test or cause unreliable results.
  • For a basic battery test, follow the tester prompt and avoid testing at the wrong engine state.
  • For charging tests, follow the 2500 RPM prompt and do not skip the on-screen instructions.
  • If the battery voltage is too low, charge the battery first when the tester prompts charge or retest.
  • BT460 is a tester, not a battery charger, repair mode power supply, or lithium battery analyzer.

    The Autool BT460 is a lightweight, compact auto battery tester. The unit quickly identified a failed battery in my wife’s SUV. I couldn’t test the battery under load, as the car would not crank. However, a new battery was tested as such, including a load test during cranking. This unit is lighter and smaller than many others as there is no load resistor in the unit. It relies upon the auto’s loads to test under usage. The tool features an easy-to-view display and intuitive button controls.

    This AUTOOL BT460 is really the most satisfying battery tester I have used so far! Support 12V and 24V, private cars at home and the company’s heavy trucks can be used, very practical. Large color screen display is clear, Chinese interface is simple to operate, a look will be, fast and accurate testing, can see the battery voltage, internal resistance, starting current, and other data.
    What’s more, it can also do the test of the starting system and the charging system, more comprehensive diagnosis. The workmanship is solid, and the wire is thick, not afraid of high current. Whether you use it for yourself, or it is a must-have for auto repair stores and truck fleets, it is a great value! Recommended!

    When I attached it the first time it said my 5yr old lead acid battery had 30% SOC, which was news to me because it had been on a trickle charger all night. The unit is easy to use and tests for internal resistance, state of charge, the charging system, and the voltage drop while cranking. I like it!

    This BT460 battery system tester perfectly meets my needs. It successfully diagnosed damaged batteries with low battery life and correctly diagnosed tested, good batteries. It can also diagnose starting and charging systems under load. I confirmed this with a 100-amp battery load tester.
    As a budding auto mechanic, I use it frequently in my shop with excellent results.
