The AUTOOL SDT203 smoke leak detector is a compact DC 12V automotive smoke machine with a built-in air pump, pressure gauge, flow meter, flow adjustment knob, and hook design. It helps technicians and DIY users locate low-pressure leaks in EVAP, intake, exhaust, fuel tank, vehicle sealing, and pipe fitting systems on cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, off-road vehicles, light trucks, and speedboats.

Before You Order And Use

Read these SDT203 power, oil, airflow, operating time, heat protection, and A/C testing notes before using the smoke leak detector.

Use DC 12V Battery Power

Connect the SDT203 to a DC 12V vehicle battery. Do not use an unsupported power source.

Add 10-15ml Test Oil

For a safer filling rule, add 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil before use. Do not overfill the unit.

Testing Oil Not Included

Due to logistics restrictions, testing oil is not included. Buy liquid paraffin or baby oil locally.

Open The Airflow Regulator

Before use, gently turn the knob to open the airflow regulator valve so smoke and airflow can pass properly.

Refill Only When Smoke Is Thin

Add fresh oil only when smoke becomes thin. Drain remaining old oil before adding fresh oil.

Avoid Overfilling

If too much oil is added accidentally, drain some oil out before operation. Do not fill more than 15ml at one time.

Do Not Run Over 8 Minutes

Do not operate the car smoke leak detector continuously for more than 8 minutes. Allow interval rest between tests.

75°C Protection

The intelligent protection device shuts off power when the internal temperature exceeds the working limit, such as over 75°C.

Hot Surface Warning

The round metal part can become hot during operation. Avoid touching it directly to prevent burns.

Safety And Compatibility Reminders

  • Keep the smoke away from smoke-sensitive parts such as headlights during leak detection.
  • Do not refill oil while the detector is running.
  • Do not put the product into water or other liquid, and do not use sticky liquid as test oil.
  • Turn off the vehicle ignition and keep the engine off when performing vehicle leak tests.
  • The SDT203 cannot directly pressure-test automotive A/C systems because A/C system pressure is much higher than smoke detector output pressure. Use it only for segment-assisted A/C pipeline checks under proper conditions.

How It Works

The SDT203 uses low oxygen combustion and built-in air output to send smoke into a sealed low-pressure system, making leak points easier to find visually.

Low Oxygen Combustion

The heating system generates smoke from mineral test oil in a low-oxygen environment for visible leak testing.

Built-In Pump Output

The integrated pump sends air and smoke into the selected pipe or test port without requiring an external air source.

Gauge And Flow Monitoring

The pressure gauge and flow meter help observe system behavior and support safer leak judgment during testing.

Visual Leak Location

When smoke escapes from a joint, pipe, gasket, or fitting, the visible smoke helps identify the suspected leak point.

Use SDT203 for low-pressure leak checks on supported DC 12V vehicle systems. Direct high-pressure A/C system leak testing is not supported.

How To Use

How To Use

Use the SDT203 with a DC 12V vehicle battery and 10-15ml liquid paraffin or baby oil. Allow enough time for the target pipe or system to fill with smoke before checking leak points.

Add Test Oil

Fill 10-15ml baby oil or liquid paraffin into the oil refill port before use. If too much oil is added, drain some oil out before operation.

Install The Hook And Open Airflow

Install the hook onto the hook port and hang the detector under the hood if needed. Gently open the smoke flow control valve.

Connect The Smoke Hose

Turn off the vehicle ignition, disconnect the pipe or test access point, and connect the smoke hose to the smoke outlet and target pipe.

Connect DC 12V Power

Connect the red clamp to positive (+) and the black clamp to negative (-). A fully charged 12V vehicle battery is recommended for consistent performance.

Generate Smoke And Locate Leaks

Press the smoke mode switch. The unit generates smoke quickly; depending on system volume, allow about 30 seconds or longer for the pipe to fill, then use a light to check suspected leak points.

Use Notes

  • The comparison chart marks smoke production in about 5 seconds, while the tested pipe may take longer to fill depending on system size and sealing.
  • The smoke mode may stop automatically after a working cycle. To stop manually, press the smoke mode switch again.
  • Leave the unit to blow residual smoke out of the nozzle after stopping smoke mode.
  • Do not exceed the continuous operation limit. Allow the machine to rest between tests.
  • If overheat protection is triggered, wait until the detector cools before restarting.
