The AUTOOL HTS518 is a 1400W walnut shell blasting machine for removing stubborn carbon deposits from the intake pipe and the backside of intake valves. It combines walnut abrasive blasting, vacuum recovery, dust filtering, 23 intake adapters, a 30L tank, and a trolley-style body to help workshops clean carbon buildup more efficiently.

Before You Order And Use

Before You Order And Use

Confirm the abrasive, air compressor, cleaning range, intake valve position, and reuse rules before ordering or operating the walnut blaster.

External Air Compressor Required

HTS518 needs an external high-pressure air compressor for blasting. The air compressor is not included in the package.

Use Dry Filtered Air

Use an air compressor with stable pressure and a dryer filter when possible. Moisture may cause walnut shell media to clump and reduce blasting performance.

6 Bar Or Above Recommended

The original air compressor configuration calls for up to 0.7MPa and generally 6 bar or more. Always follow safe workshop and vehicle service limits.

Walnut Sand Not Included

Walnut shell abrasive is not included. Prepare 0.6-1.2mm walnut abrasive before use, or purchase compatible walnut sand separately.

Intake System Only

HTS518 is designed for the engine intake pipe and intake valve backside. It is not for injector, throttle valve, cylinder, or combustion chamber cleaning.

Clean Port By Port

Close the intake valve before blasting. Clean one intake port each time; a 6-cylinder engine should be cleaned six times, one port at a time.

Safety And Media Reminders

  • High-precision intake systems, such as BMW Valvetronic systems, are sensitive to foreign matter. Make sure the intake valve is closed and visible media is recovered before restarting the engine.
  • Walnut powder is a natural polishing material with hardness lower than metal but higher than carbon deposits, helping remove buildup without damaging the metal surface when used correctly.
  • Small residual walnut powder may burn to ash after the engine starts, but visible media should still be recovered and the intake should be checked before startup.
  • Chemical cleaning agents may corrode pipes or shorten service life if used improperly; walnut blasting avoids soaking the intake with chemical fluid.

How It Works

How It Works

HTS518 uses a closed-loop walnut shell blasting process: abrasive impact loosens carbon deposits, while vacuum recovery collects media and residue for filtering.

Close The Intake Valve

Before blasting, turn the crankshaft to close the intake valve for the port being cleaned. This helps keep media out of the combustion area.

Spray Walnut Abrasive

The external air compressor drives walnut powder through the blasting gun into the intake port, where repeated impact breaks down hard carbon deposits.

Recover Through Vacuum

The recovery hose collects walnut powder and removed carbon residue during cleaning, helping keep the process controlled and cleaner.

Separate And Reuse

The built-in filter separates carbon residue from walnut abrasive. Under normal conditions, the abrasive can usually be reused 5-10 times.

Use the correct walnut shell abrasive size and confirm the cleaning target before service. HTS518 is for intake pipe and intake valve backside carbon cleaning only.

0.6-1.2mm Walnut Sand

Use walnut shell abrasive between 0.6-1.2mm. Walnut sand is made from crushed walnut shells and screened by particle size.

Natural Abrasive Material

Walnut sand has strong wear resistance, pressure resistance, and a microporous surface. It provides good adsorption while avoiding corrosion or pollution when used correctly.

Reusable 5-10 Times

The abrasive can usually be reused 5-10 times under normal conditions. Replace it earlier if it is wet, clumped, contaminated, or no longer cleans effectively.

Broad Adapter Coverage

The 23-adapter kit is designed for many intake port shapes and helps support common vehicle brands and engine layouts.

Do not use HTS518 to clean fuel injectors. Choose an AUTOOL fuel injector cleaner if injector cleaning is required.

Not For Combustion Chambers

HTS518 does not support engine combustion chamber cleaning. For that requirement, compare the HTS728 model instead.

How To Use

How To Use

Follow the basic operating sequence below, then verify the intake port is clean and media is recovered before moving to the next cylinder.

Add Walnut Powder

Open the head cover, pour in 2-4kg of 0.6-1.2mm walnut powder, press the dust guard firmly onto the walnut powder, and close the cover securely.

Connect Gun And Recovery Hose

Join the spray gun muzzle and the recovery hose together. The recovery hose has an opening designed for the blasting nozzle and vacuum path.

Prepare The Intake Port

Remove the intake manifold, insert the spray gun into the intake port, and turn the crankshaft to close the intake valve for the port being cleaned.

Connect Air And Power

Connect the external high-pressure air compressor to HTS518, then connect AC power. The air compressor is required and is not included.

Clean And Inspect

Start cleaning for about 1-3 minutes depending on carbon buildup. Stop the machine, inspect the result, recover remaining media, and repeat for the next intake port if needed.

Use Notes

  • Do not start blasting until the target intake valve is closed.
  • Clean one intake pipe or intake port each time.
  • The cleaning process normally lasts 1-3 minutes, depending on the carbon deposition condition.
  • Walnut powder can usually be reused 5-10 times, depending on contamination and moisture.
  • Use a dryer filter on the air compressor to prevent walnut sand from clumping.
  • Check for visible walnut media before starting the engine after cleaning.

    The AUTOOL HTS518 walnut blaster is a reliable shop tool! The 1400W motor and external air source blast away tough carbon deposits on valves and manifolds, fixing rough idling easily. The 23 adapters fit all my common models—BMW, VW, Mercedes—and the integrated spray/recovery with filter lets me reuse walnut sand.
