Never go to purchase a new battery for any vehicle you own without carrying this tool in your pocket. Don’t take it for granted that a new battery on the shelf is good without testing it first. That’s only one of the ways this tester will pay for itself.

This is a compact and easy to use battery tester that includes the ability to do more than just test your battery. The best part of it is that it is very compact and lightweight. It weighs less than a pound. Nice little battery tester that you can throw in your car toolbox and have at the ready.

This 12 volt car battery tester can be used to determine if a car battery is still viable as well as test an alternator to see if it is charging the car battery correctly. It can save you some money or better yet save you from being stranded somewhere because of a bad battery or alternator. This tester is simple to use and you just have to connect the 2 battery clamps to a car battery to power it and start testing. The quick test will test the battery with the car off, while the standard test gives options for a cranking test and a charging test. When the tester first starts, it asks for the aH rating of the battery. The quick test shows the condition of the battery, while the standard test adds a load test, a charging test, and a cranking test. The load test is simply to see how well the battery can handle a load, such as the headlights, air conditioning, radio, etc. The charging test will test how well the alternator is working. The cranking test will test the cold cranking amperage against the rated CCA. Like most of these battery testers, if the tester comes back with a ¡°good¡± rating, it means that all of the criteria it has analyzed has met its requirements for a battery in good health. If it is not in good health, then further tests may be needed before you decide to replace the battery. Or it could be the battery liquid levels are low and need to be topped off. In any case, it does give you a better idea of the condition of your battery so you can do something about it, rather than get stranded when your car won¡¯t start. This tester must be connected to the car battery to see the results of the test, but I discovered that if I plugged a USB-C power source to the bottom of the tester, it does power on and I can navigate to the results of the last test. Apparently, this connector can also be used to update the firmware. Overall, this is a nice car battery tester that seems to be accurate and easy to use.
