TR401 measures wind speed, air temperature, Beaufort wind force level, and wind chill warning conditions. It is suitable for airflow and temperature checks such as automotive AC outlets, ventilation systems, outdoor use, fan manufacturing, maritime operations, and wind energy applications.
TR401 measures local air speed and air temperature at its wind wheel, displays a Beaufort level, and provides a wind-chill warning under its trigger conditions. It does not directly calculate duct volume flow or diagnose an automotive A/C fault.
Which Wind Speed And Temperature Units Does TR401 Support?
TR401 supports wind speed units m/s, mph, km/h, ft/min, and knots. It supports temperature units °C and °F. Press the Unit key to switch wind speed units, and long press the Unit key to switch temperature units.
What Batteries Does TR401 Use?
TR401 uses 3 AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries. Insert the batteries according to the positive and negative marks inside the battery compartment. Replace them promptly when the low-battery icon appears, and remove the batteries before long-term storage.
When Does The Wind Chill Warning Appear?
The Wind Chill warning appears when the temperature is below 0°C and the wind speed is greater than 5m/s. When the WINDCHILL signal appears, pay attention to low-temperature and high-wind conditions.
How Do I Use Backlight, Data Hold, And Max/Min Mode?
- Press the power/backlight key during operation to turn the backlight on or off.
- Press the Data Hold key to lock or unlock the current displayed reading.
- Press the measurement mode key to switch among real-time, Max, and Min reading modes.
Does TR401 Turn Off Automatically?
Yes. During normal operation, TR401 automatically turns off after approximately 5 minutes of no key operation to save power. Auto power-off can be disabled from the power-off state by using the key combination described in the user manual.
Can TR401 Measure Light, Sound, Humidity, Or Pressure?
No. TR401 is designed for wind speed and temperature measurement. For illuminance, choose TE301. For sound level, choose TN201. For temperature and humidity, choose TM101. TR401 is not a pressure tester or refrigerant leak detector.
What Is Included In The TR401 Package?

Does TR401 Measure Air Volume Or CFM?
No direct duct-volume or CFM calculation is specified. TR401 measures local air speed in m/s, mph, km/h, ft/min, or knots. Converting speed to volume flow requires a suitable area and traverse method.
Can One Vent Reading Diagnose An A/C Problem?
No. Record vent, blower setting, vehicle state, ambient condition, measurement position, and repeated readings. Air speed and outlet-air temperature can show a repeatable symptom, while refrigerant charge, compressor, controls, doors, leaks, and other causes require the matching service procedure and tools.
