Air and Smoke Modes
Use Air Mode for pressure and flow checks before switching to Smoke Mode for visual leak location, following the model controls and system procedure.

Confirm the Procedure
Identify the target system, permitted pressure or threshold, access point, valve state and openings that must be sealed.

Use the correct adapter, make a leak-free connection to the selected test point, and isolate normal escape paths according to the vehicle procedure.

Use Air Mode first and observe the pressure gauge and flow window under the selected test conditions.

Use Smoke to Inspect
Switch to Smoke mode when visual tracing is needed, allow the connected volume to fill, and inspect accessible joints, hoses and seals for escaping smoke.

Repair and Retest
Repair the confirmed escape path, repeat the same controlled test, and continue with functional diagnosis if the result is inconclusive or no smoke is visible.

Match Pressure, Flow, Medium, and Procedure
Match Pressure to the System
The machine rating is not permission to apply its maximum to every vehicle system. Use the OEM or component procedure and the lowest appropriate controlled setting.
Confirm Air and Power
Connect SML330 to a stable DC 12 V / 5 A supply. Its built-in pump provides airflow; do not connect shop air to an unspecified port.
Protect People and Components
Work in a dry, well-ventilated area away from flame and hot sources; use eye and hand protection and avoid directing smoke at smoke-sensitive or precision electronic parts.
Inspect Hoses and Adapters
Do not operate with damaged power leads, hoses or adapters. Clean an opening before inserting an inflatable airbag so sharp edges do not puncture it.
Use Approved Smoke Machine Fluid
Follow the model manual for fluid selection, fill level, draining and storage. Do not use water, viscous or corrosive liquids.
Interpret Results Carefully
Pressure-gauge or flow-window changes and escaping smoke support the next inspection step. No result alone rules out incorrect isolation, blockage, valve-control, intermittent, or non-leak faults.

Read Pressure and Smoke at the Correct Test Stage
Pressure Holds Within the Specified Limits
When pressure holds within the selected vehicle or component procedure limits, record the result for that setup. If it falls outside the threshold, continue with flow and smoke inspection.
Pressure Drops or Exceeds the Procedure Limit
Check the machine self-test, connection and intentional openings, then use smoke to inspect for an escape path.
Smoke Escapes
Confirm the smoke is not leaving a normal open route, repair the verified leak and repeat the same test.
No Smoke Is Visible
Recheck setup and isolation, then investigate valve control, blockage, intermittent behavior or a non-leak cause as the vehicle procedure directs.

What air source does SML330 use?
It has a built-in air pump, so normal testing does not require a separate shop-air compressor.
Can I use the maximum pressure on an EVAP system?
Do not assume so. Choose pressure from the vehicle procedure; machine capacity and EVAP-safe pressure are different facts.
What Does Air Mode Tell Me?
Use pressure and flow behavior under the configured, sealed test setup to guide the next leak inspection step.
What does Smoke mode add?
Smoke gives a visible tracer for inspecting an escape path after the test volume is connected and isolated correctly.
What if no smoke is visible?
Verify smoke delivery, access, isolation, adapter sealing and valve state. Then continue with the applicable functional diagnosis because blockage, intermittent or non-leak faults may not produce visible smoke.
