Dedicated EVAP and Standard Pressure Controls

Standard and EVAP Pressure Modes

Standard Mode is rated at 35 psi, while EVAP Mode is rated at 10 psi to better protect EVAP lines during testing. Standard Mode supports output up to 35 psi, while EVAP Mode stays below 10 psi. Select either mode only when the vehicle or component service procedure permits that pressure.

Tiny-Leak Checks

EVAP Mode supports controlled repair-shop EVAP checks, including tiny leaks down to about 0.5 mm, while pressure protection helps protect the system under test. After connecting and isolating the system at a permitted pressure, use visible smoke to inspect accessible joints, hoses, and seals for an escape path.

Exhaust, Crankcase, Fuel-Tank, Line and Turbo Checks

Supports visual leak checks on exhaust sections, crankcase systems, and line fittings. It can also assist with low-pressure checks around fuel-tank sealing areas and automotive line connections. Use it for selected low-pressure turbo, intercooler, and air-path leak checks within the stated pressure limits.

Visible Oil Level Gauge

The SDT208 interface includes an oil level gauge together with the airflow meter, pressure gauge, power indicator, and alarm indicator.

Never Apply Standard Mode to a Low-Pressure EVAP Task

12V / 24V Power and Built-In Air Pump

Connect SDT208 to a 12V or 24V DC battery before use. The built-in air pump provides the test airflow, so you do not need an external compressor.

Choose the Pressure Mode Before Testing

Use EVAP Mode for EVAP-focused testing below 10 psi. Standard Mode is available up to 35 psi, but select it only when the vehicle or component service procedure permits that pressure range.

Use the Oil-Level Gauge, but Keep the 10–15 mL Fill Limit

Testing oil is not included. Use liquid paraffin or baby oil, add 10–15 mL before use, and use the oil-level gauge to check the current oil volume without overfilling.

Do not run SDT208 continuously for more than 8 minutes. Automatic overheat protection shuts the unit down above 75°C. Let the unit cool before restarting.

Use the correct adapter and pressure mode for the selected system. Follow the vehicle or component service procedure, and do not introduce smoke or pressure where the procedure does not permit it.

Trace the Leak with Smoke

Use visible smoke to trace the leak area. If no smoke appears, recheck isolation, flow, and the test setup before continuing.

How Do I Read the Pressure Gauge and Flow Meter?

Use the pressure gauge and flow meter to monitor pressure and airflow during the test. In general, if the pressure gauge continues to rise and stabilize, the test line may have no obvious leak. If the pressure continues to decrease, the line may have a leak that needs further inspection and repair.

SDT208 provides Standard Mode and EVAP Mode, plus airflow adjustment through the regulator. It is not designed as an unrestricted high-pressure tester. If smoke becomes thin, drain the remaining oil and add fresh testing oil. If the detector has overheated, let it cool before restarting. Contact support if the issue remains.
