Key Features
Built-In Pump with a Compact Pressure Display
Pressure Gauge Leak Check
The pressure gauge helps you assess leak severity by monitoring pressure changes during the test.
Rapid Smoke Generation
Press the smoke switch to generate smoke quickly. The connected test line can fill with smoke within about 30 seconds.
Built-In Air Pump
No external air source is required. The built-in air pump keeps setup simple for workshop, mobile, and DIY use.
EVAP / Intake / Exhaust / Fuel Tank Checks
For intake-system diagnostics, SDT60 works as an intake smoke tester. It also supports exhaust, EVAP, fuel-tank, line-fitting, and vehicle-sealing checks. Compatible vehicles include 12V cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, light trucks, and speedboats.
Lightweight and Portable
With a 1.6 kg main unit, SDT60 is easy to carry, store, and use in tight engine-bay spaces.
Overheat and Low-Temperature Protection
The detector automatically powers off around 75°C and supports operation down to -20°C.
Controls & Connections
Controls and connections are grouped for quick setup and easy identification during testing.
3 Years Warranty Support
Main unit: 3-year warranty. Standard accessories: 1-year warranty. Warranty Policy.
How to Use
Seal, Pressurize, Observe, Add Smoke, and Inspect
Add Testing Oil
Fill 10–15 mL baby oil or liquid paraffin into the detector. Do not overfill.
Connect the Test Line
Access the system to be tested and position the detector near the test area. Disconnect the line you want to test, then connect it to the smoke output hose.
Power On
Connect the detector to a 12V DC battery, then turn on the power switch to start the unit.
Check Leaks
The connected test line fills with smoke within about 30 seconds. Inspect for escaping smoke to locate leaks and use a headlamp if necessary.
Confirm and Retest
Confirm any visible escape path against the system layout, repair the verified leak, and repeat the same controlled test. Continue with the vehicle procedure if no smoke is visible or the fault is intermittent or functional.
Safety & Compatibility
Use the Correct System Pressure and Vehicle Procedure
12V Power and Built-In Air Pump
Connect SDT60 to a 12V DC battery before use. The built-in air pump provides the test airflow, so you do not need an external air source.
Use the Pressure Gauge to Watch Test Pressure
SDT60 outputs less than 10 psi and less than 5 L/min. Watch the gauge for pressure changes in the connected test path, and stay within the pressure allowed by the vehicle or component service procedure.
Add 10–15 mL of Testing Oil
Use liquid paraffin or baby oil as testing oil. Add 10–15 mL before use and do not exceed this range.
Limit Continuous Use to 8 Minutes
Do not run SDT60 continuously for more than 8 minutes. Let the unit rest between tests.
75°C Overheat Protection
If the internal temperature exceeds 75°C, the unit automatically shuts off power. Let it cool before restarting.
Operating Temperature and Hot Surfaces
SDT60 supports operation down to -20°C. The round metal housing can become hot during use, so avoid touching hot surfaces directly.
Check Connections Before Starting Smoke
Before starting smoke, make sure the smoke hose and test line are connected securely and confirm the 12V power connection.
Trace the Leak with Smoke
Use visible smoke to trace the leak area. If no smoke appears, recheck isolation, flow, and the test setup before continuing.
Gauge Monitors Pressure Only
Use the pressure gauge to monitor the test, not to set or increase pressure.
Never Refill While Running
Do not refill testing oil while the unit is running.
Test Results
Use Pressure and Smoke as Separate Test Clues
Use Pressure Changes to Guide Inspection
Use the pressure gauge to track line-pressure changes and guide the next leak-inspection step.
Visible Smoke Escape
Check that the outlet is not an intentional opening, then inspect, repair and retest the exact area.
No Visible Smoke
Verify access, isolation, valve state and smoke delivery before moving to functional diagnosis or another test method.

Vanlige spørsmål
Gauge, Pump, and Connection Questions
What Testing Oil Should I Use for SDT60?
Use liquid paraffin or baby oil as the testing oil for SDT60 smoke generation.
How Much Testing Oil Should I Add?
Add 10–15 mL before first use and do not exceed this range. When refilling, pour out the remaining oil first and add about 10 mL fresh testing oil.
Does SDT60 Need an External Air Pump?
No. SDT60 has a built-in air pump, so it does not require an external air source for normal use.
What Power Supply Does SDT60 Need?
SDT60 requires connection to a 12V DC battery for operation.
How Long Can SDT60 Run Continuously?
Do not run the detector continuously for more than 8 minutes. Let the unit rest between uses.
Why Does the Detector Shut Off Automatically?
If the temperature exceeds 75°C, automatic overheat protection turns off the power. Let the detector cool before using it again.
Can SDT60 Work in Cold Environments?
Yes. SDT60 can operate at temperatures down to -20°C.
How Does the Pressure Gauge Help?
The pressure gauge helps you assess leaks by showing pressure changes during the test. The reading can help distinguish no obvious leak from a small or more severe leak.
Which Systems Can SDT60 Test?
For engine-related leak checks, SDT60 works as an engine smoke tester across intake, crankcase, oil-seal, throttle, and intake-manifold systems. It also supports low-pressure checks on exhaust, vehicle-sealing, fuel-tank, intercooler-air, coolant-tank, and line fittings.
How Does SDT60 Differ from SDT101 and SDT103?
SDT60 has a built-in air pump and can be used directly with a 12V battery. SDT101 and SDT103 require an external air source.

A reliable tool
I’ve been using the AUTOOL SDT60 for a few months now. It’s incredibly portable, allowing me to move from my garage to a client’s car. The built-in air pump means I don’t need any extra equipment, and setup takes seconds.
I also appreciate its safety features—the automatic shutoff at 75°C and the clear, sensitive pressure gauge make it easy to quickly locate leaks. It runs directly from a 12V car battery, so it’s always ready to go, no matter where I’m working.

much easier to find vacuum leaks
The SDT60 eliminates the need for a separate air source; it comes with its own air pump and a pressure gauge, allowing you to monitor pressure changes at any time. If you are trying to track down a leak, you can’t beat a good smoke machine. This thing is the G.O.A.T., and will save you a load of time.
